Highway Guardraol Specifications

1.Guardrail Panels

Two-Wave Type:Standard length is 4320mm,panel width 310mm,and wave depth 85mm.Common thicknesses are 3mm and 4mm.The theoretica weight is approximately 49.16kg for the 3mm-thick version and 65.55kg for the 4mm-thick one.

Three-Wave Type:It shares the same 4320mm lenth as the two-wave type,with a wider panel(505mm) and consistent 85mm wave depth.Typically 4mm thick,it is designed for high-strength protection sections that require enhanced impact resistance.


2.Posts

Circulr Posts:Common diameters are 114mm and 140mm,with standard wall thicknesses of 4mm or 4.5mm.Available lengths include 1200mm,1500mm,1800mm and 2150mm,adaptable to different road foundaton and installation height requirements.

Square Posts:Feature a 130mm side length and 6mm wall thickness, offering higher structura stability for scenarios that demand stronger load-bearing capacity.


3.Connecting Components

Blockers:Standard size is 196mm×178mm×200mm,with optional thicknesses of 3mm,4mm,4.25mm and buffer impact force during vehicle collisions,reducing damage to both the guardrail and cehicles.

Brackets:Typically 300mm in length,70mm in width,and 4mm or 4.5mm in thickness.They serve as an alternative to blockers for connecting guardrail panels and posts,suitable for sections with moderate impact risk.

Bolts:Frequently used specification include M16×170.M16×150,M16×50,M16×42, and M16×35. These high-strength bolts ensure secure fastening between all guardrail components,preventing loosening under long-term outdoor use and impact.


4.Anti-Corrosion Treatments

Hot-Dip Galvanization:The primary anti-corrosion method.For corrugated steel guardrail panels,the average zinc coating weight is ≥600g/m²(corresponding to an average coating thickness of ≥85μm). For posts,blockers,and other coomponents, the average zinc coating weight is ≥350g/m² (average thickness ≥50μm), providing long-term resistance to rust and oxidation.

Galvanization+Powder Coating:An upgraded treatment that adds a powder coating layer on top of hot-dip galvanization.The galvanized layer for panels still maintains an average weight of ≥270g/m²,while the power coating has an average thickness of ≥76μm.This dua treatment enhances both corrosion resistance and aesthetic appeal,suitable for harsh environmrnts like coasta or industrial areas.


5.Crash Resistance Levels

Generally Classified into five grades;B,A,SB,SA,andSS.

Grade B is the basic level,designed for road sections with low collision risk(eg., rural highways with low traffic volume).

Grade SS is the highest protection level, reserved for high-risk sections where accidents could result in severe consequences(e.g., highway curves eith steep slopes or near cliffs).

1.Material

Common materials include low-carbon steel (requires anti-corrosion treatment),stainless steel,and aluminum alloy.The choice of material determines the guardrail's durability and cost,allowing customization based on project budgets and environmental demands.


2.Height

Road guardrails typically range from 0.7m to 1.2m, designed to prevent climbing and unauthorized crossing.

Bridge guardrails have a minimum height of 1.1m,with enhanced structural strength  to resist falling risks for pedestrians or objects.


3.Spacing

The distance between guardrail posts is 2m to 4m,balancing structural strength and cost-effectiveness for large-scale installation.

The gap between horizont/vertical rails is ≤ 11cm,a safety-focused design to prevent children or small objects from getting stuck or passing through.


4.Anti-Corrosion Processes

Hot-dip galvanization is the base anti-rust treatment,forming a dense zinc coating to block moisture and oxidation.

Optional powder coating or dip coating can be applied to further improve weather resistance,making the guardrail suitable for long-term outdoor use(e.g., coastal areas,industrial zones with high humidity).


5.Impact Resistance Performance

Complies with national standards such as GB/T 31439.Specific requirements vary by road type:

For highways:Designed to withstand high-impact loads without detachment or deformation,ensuring traffic safety during vehicle collisions.

For municipal roads:Optimized for moderate impact resistance,balancing safety and installation flexibility for urban traffic scenarios.
